The Republic of Ireland and the Soviet Union will soon exchange ambassadors, according to an authoritative source in Dub-
ft will be the first time republic has established diplomatic relations Wilk a Cnmmunist country.
The move tafows a discreet, but steady improvement in trade relatfo ns between the two countries, political observers in Dublin say.
It is also considered at indirect consequence of Ireland’s proposed entry in the European Economic Community, since the other nine members of an enlarged Community would all have ambassadors in Moscow. The slow evolution of Irish relations with the Soviet Union is marked by the fact that the official Russian news agency, Tass has had an accredited correspondent in Dublin for only two years.
