SURVEY BY OIL COMPANY

An oil company research vessel, the Fred H. Moore (above), will arrive at Wellington soon to begin a four-month survey of New Zealand off-shore • waters. i During the survey, the ves- ■ sei will travel about 20,000 miles. The Fred H. Moore is owned by the Mobil Oil Corporation; the managing director of Mobil Oil New Zealand, Ltd (Mr J. B. Leslie) said that the survey would help the company’s scientists understand the geological relationship between the New Zealand continental shelf and the deep ocean basins. The survey was part of a world-wide survey which the company started in the Caribbean in 1968. He said that all the physical data obtained during the vessel’s survey would be made available to the New Zealand Government on a confidential basis.
