Coward play

William Marchant has adapted a short story by Noel Coward into a 90minute “Drama Playhouse” production for television. This is one programme in a special Noel Coward trilogy all dealing with “older women.” “The Kindness of Mrs Radcliffe” is about an impossibly self-centred woman, Mrs Radcliffe, who is quite unaware of the people she tramples on in the space of just one day.

Phyllis Calvert plays Mrs Radcliffe and others in the cast are Frances White, Anthony Nicholls and Joan Hickson.

Leonard White produced “The Kindness of Mrs Radcliffe” for Thames Television, and it screens from all channels on Sunday, December 26.
