620 still held in Ulster
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 22. About 620 people are still being detained in Northern Ireland out of a total of 1590 men arrested as suspected guerrillas between August 9 and December 15, it was reported in the House of Commons last night. Giving these figures to a questioner, the Minister of State at the Home Office (Mr Richard Sharpies) said that 868 of those arrested were freed within 48 hours. Eighteen detainees had been charged with criminal offences.
