Aid for refugees

Plans for the churches’ involvement in refugee rehabilitation in Bangla Desh have been outlined in a cablegram from the Rev. A. A. Brash, the New Zealand head of the World Council of Churches aid department to the Christian World Service branch of the National Council of Churches in New Zealand. Dacca had been planned as the base and the work was to be co-ordinated by Diakonische Werk, the overseas aid department of the German Protestant Churches, the cablegram said. "The repatriation of some 10 million refugees from India will pose massive administrative and social problems, and the W.C.C. anticipate $4 million being needed,” said Mr Brash. “It is hoped that the National Council of Churches Christmas Appeal, which is now in full swing, will provide $70,000 towards this request”
