Japan raises beef quotas
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright! ! TOKYO, Dec. 22. Japan has announced an increase in her beef import quotas, to prevent a further i rise in local meat prices and [ tq soften overseas criticism about her import restrictions. The Miftistry of Intemattional Trade and Industry will authorise imports of 22X100 ' tons of beef for the second ; half of the fiscal year, ending in March. Clnly 14,000 tons was allowed in the first half. The bulk of the import I quota will come from Aufitzglia, except for high-quality beef, which win be supplied i by the United States.
