Silver Knight to run in Summer Cup

E. Temperton has announced that Silver Knight is almost certain to run in the mile Summer Cup on the third day of the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting and at the Wairarapa New Year meeting.

On Tuesday, Silver Knight was asked to stretch out over five furlongs on the plough, and he worked in good style. He ran the distance in Imin 6sec, and the last three in 40 2-ssec.

He will be all the better for his race in the Summer Cup, and his appearance will cause a lot of interest. Temperton said Young Ida is herself again after a bock Injury, and it ia now thought she gave herself a rick. She is a likely candidate for Wairarapa. Purdie has been slightly lame since Maaterton, but he is coming along satisfactorily, and may

now run in the Manawatu Cup next week.

On the inside trial Beatrix and a Just Whistle gelding finished together over three furlongs in 38sec.

Course proper On the course proper Chelsea Tower and Ari impressed over half a mile in 50 l-Ssec. the last three in 37 Msec. They are promising youngsters in J. Seiwood’s stable.

Munjarra and Reachfar ran three furlongs in 37sec and finished together. Kentucky Breeze and But Lovely took 1:21 for six furlongs, the last three in 41sec.

Self Defence worked well to beat Trickden, Flash and Mi Chiamo, over half a mile in 50 4-ssee, the final three furlongs in 37 4-3 sec.
