No use for airport
r.V.Z. Press Association; WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. The N.A.C. would cease to use Paraparaumu as an alternative to Rongotai Airport on Thursday, the airline’s general manager (Mr D. A. Patterson) said yesterday. “Paraparaumu is seldom used, and the splitting of staff between the two airports at times when both are exceedingly busy is difficult for the airline and uncomfortable for the passengers,” Mr Patterson said in a statement. “Paraparaumu has been used during portions of only 14 days of the year,” he said. Paraparaumu Airport was first used by N.A.C. in 1947, and was in continuous use until Wellington Airport was opened in 1959.
