PAINT POT POSTED

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 22. Someone made a "blue” when wrapping a parcel in Canada a month or so ago —and as a result blue paint leaked on to about 80 parcels, many of them Christmas presents, awaiting delivery at the Albert Street parcels branch of the Post Office in Auckland last night While postal workers were sorting about 20,000 parcels, the supervisor, Mr D. Dunn, noticed a trickle of paint in one of the chutes. The paint—iridescent blue—was from a onegallon tin, which was only half full when found. It took one hour and a half to clean the machinery. The addresses on the paint-covered parcels were all legible. They will be delivered with an endorsement, explaining what happened.
