Shoe firm closed
A Christchurch firm which has manufactured women’s shoes for more than 50 years, Enterprise Shoes, Ltd, 193 Peterborough Street, closed yesterday after going into receivership last week. Mr G. J. Matthews, who was appointed as receiver, said yesterday that all of the staff of about 40 who wished to continue working had found alternative positions. Mr Matthews said the business had closed because “it was economically and financially impossible to continue in production.”
