MIXED TRADING IN LEADERS BUT GOOD RISES SHOWN

Price changes were mixed among the leaders in less active trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. More leaders fell than rose but movements were small. However, second-line stocks gave the market interest with several good rises.

Fletcher Holdings was well! supported after its good in-] terim report and the shares; gained 4c at 176 c. Kempthorne Prosser stood out among the less active stocks with a rise of 7c to 135 c, while Dunlop N.Z. and Medical Chambers were 10c higher. Merchant Finance showed ;a strong rise on small volume iin Auckland where the shares were Iflc higher at 75c. Bunting gained 4c, and T.l J. Edmonds sc. The finance companies ap-] peared firm. B.N.Z. Finance was up 5c at 280 c and Broadlands held its gains at 105 c. C.S.I. eased 2c to 138 c. Losses were small among the leaders but their tone took some of the shine from the market. Feltex, New Zealand Breweries, and South British eased 2c each while Forests, N.Z. Insurance, Rothmans and Wright Stephenson were down Ic.
