Lower grade softball
The second-last rounds of open lower grade softball matches were played on Saturday and results were:— MEN Second grade.—Kaiapoi 10, Richmond 5; Albion Rugby Football Club 13, Western Suburbs B 6; Linwood High School Old Boys; a bye. WOMEN Second-grade.—Services 15, Christchurch West B 4; Lyttelton 11, Christchurch West A 8; Monowai 12, Spreydon 3; Western Suburbs 10, Burnside High School 3. Third grade.—Western Suburbs 7, Burnside High School 0; Templeton 19, Christchurch West 9. Final rounds of schoolchildren’s softball before the Christmaa*recess, were completed on Saturday. Games start again on February 5, 1972. Results (with competition points in parentheses) were:—
GIRLS Senior schoolgirls’.—Monowai A 16 (6), Burnside 5 (12); Somerfield (10), Western Suburbs 5 (2); Spreydon 10 (6), MonOwai B 5, (4). Junior.—Burnside 20 (14), Spreydon 5 (6); Christchurch West A 20 (10), West B 6 (2); Western Suburbs A 18 (12), Monowai 4 (8), Western Suburbs B bye (2). BOYS Senior schoolboys’.—Somerfield 15 (12), United 1 (5); Richmond 7 (11), Burnside 0 (3); Papanui A 24 (6), Papanui B 7 (3).
