North Shore holds shield
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. North Shore easily retained the New Zealand women’s cricket Hallyburton Johnstone Shield at Logan Park on Saturday when it scored a 10-wicket victory over Auckland. North Shore finished the tournament with 30 points —l2 points ahead of the second team, Wellington (18), followed by Auckland (12), Canterbury (11), and Otago (3). North Shore and Wellington registered outright wins in their games against Auckland and Canterbury respectively. Ahead on the first innings by 54 runs in its match with Canterbury, Wellington was all out in its second innings for 131 after starting the day at 65 for no wickets.
Canterbury, needing 186 for an outright win, was all out in its second innings for 168.
Scores in the CanterburyWellington match were:—Wellington 122 and 131 (M. Dunlop 42; J. Olson 6/27), Canterbury 68 and 168 (E. Rouse 60, Olson 31: J. Coulbrey 4/39).
