BOWLER’S SUCCESS

14 wickets to Jordan (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Magnificent bowling by the Central Districts representative, A. B. Jordan, paved the way for Taranaki’s 10-wicket victory in its Hawke Cup defence against Franklin at Pukekura Park, on Saturday. Jordan took eight wickets for 25 in Franklin’s second innings, when the challenger was out for 60, and had also taken six for 64 in its first innings. Taranaki needed only 17 runs for the win and the Central Districts left-hander H. C. Sampson, hit them in less than two overs, to end the match a day early. Taranaki’s second challenge of the season is against Manawatu at New Plymouth on December 27, 28 and 29, but the side will be without both Jordan and Sampson, who. will be playing Plunket Shield cricket for Central Districts against

Auckland. Scores: Franklin 160 and 60, Taranaki 204 (C. Barclay 52; N. Harford 3/37) and 19/0.
