Teaching begins February, 1972. Applicants should have extensive daily newspaper experience as reporters, a knowledge of subediting and layout, and the ability and enthusiasm to teach young people. Knowledge of the requirements of broadcasting news, magazine production, and research articles would be an advantage. Students concentrate on practical news-gathering and news-writing. They produce newspapers and maintain rounds as part of their practical work. They also learn principles of newspaper and broadcasting journalism and apply these to a background of sociology, politics and economics. The successful applicant will be encouraged to continue outside journalism work as teaching hours permit, to ensure that he keeps in active touch with the profession.
