TIMARU, December 12. , A fire engine at the Timaru i Airport at Levels was on full 1 alert at 1.19 p.m. today and there- *was an appliance on ; standby at the Timaru fire 1 station because of a inalfunc-, tion in an airborne 150 Super- I cub aircraft, owned by the ' South Canterbury Gliding Club. The emergency arose when the plane, piloted by Mr D, Talbot, was towing a glider. “During the course of a normal landing, the pilot could not close the throttle on account of a small defect in the mechanism. He switched off the motor, and landed normally,” said the club’s chief instructor, (Mr M. W. Dennison).
