JUMBO JET VISIT?
Christchurch may see its first jumbo jet early next year. Qantas is investigating the possibility of bringing one of its dew Boeing 7478 345-seater aircraft on a courtesy flight to Auckland and Christchurch in January. The Christchurch manager of the airline (Mr -A. R. Perrier) ■ confirmed reports that Qantas officials had visited both airports to inspect facilities. The team visited Christchurch Airport on Wednesday, he said, and also met representtatives of the airport,authority and the Civil Aviation >■ Department The team would report its findings to the Qantas headquarters in Australia, he said, and an official announcement would be made within a few days.
