Cannabis charge

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. The Auckland singer and entertainer, Lany Morris Sturdy, (professional name Larry Morris) pleaded not guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today to a charge of having cannabis in his possession on Tuesday. Sturdy, aged 24, was remanded on bail until next Friday by Mr H. Y. Gilliand, S.M.

Mr R. L. McLaren, defending, asked that Sturdy’s name be suppressed on grounds which were outlined to the Magistrate in chambers. After hearing the submissions, the Magistrate said he declined to suppress the name.
