North Shore, holder of the * New Zealand women’s cricket Hallyburton Johnstone Shield, looks set to retain it at this year’s tournament. The only way the team could lose the shield would be if Auckland could gain an outright win In Its final match with North Shore and there was no . sign of it doing so after yester-, day’s play. • North Shore was in a strong position, having declared at 242 for five wickets. J. Doull made £ 115 not out. In reply Auckland n was 53 for two. In the other match, Welling- ■ ton gained a first innings lead of 54 runs against Canterbury.
