Toll account service

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. The Post Office has introduced a new system of 101 l accounts for people who have a large number of toll calls.

Announcing this, the Postmaster-General (Mr McCready), said the new service would offer these subscribers eight invoices in each two-month billing period, in addition to the normal two-monthly combined telephone and toll account. The special toll accounts service, to cost $65 a year, would give the same details as now appeared on the present two-monthlv statement. Mr McCready said subscribers using this new service would not be required to notify their requirements when toll calls were being lodged, and the 5c pricerequired fee would not apply unless a subscriber wanted to have price information immediately.

The new service was being introduced in response to a number of requests from various organisations and individuals whose staff were now required to spend considerable time obtaining such information from the Post Office. As in the past, payment for toll calls would be claimed on the normal two-monthly account, although arrangements could be made for payment on the special invoices if the subscriber wished.
