Yuile in squad
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. Only one change has been made in the Central Districts cricket squad to play the first three Plunket Shield matches this season from the side that played at Lower Hutt in the one-day game against Wellington. The New Zealand allrounder, B. W. Yuile, has been included at the expense of the young Manawatu spinner, M. Brooke. Yuile was not available previously because of his dislike of Sunday sport, and his selection is not surprising. He will act as twelfth man, however, for the first match —against Auckland in Auckland on December 26, 27, and 28, because Sunday play is involved.
The other two matches—against Northern Districts in Hamilton on December 30 and 31, and January 1, and against Wellington in Palmerston North from January 3 to 5, do not involve Sundays. D. H. Payton has been made captain. The squad Is:—
D. H. Payton (Wairarapa, eaptafn), M. J. F. Shrimpton (Hawke’s Bay), H. Sampson (Taranaki), M. Baker (Hawke’s Bay), R. Ellis (Hawke’s Bay), K. J. Wadsworth (Nelson), R. Pierce (Nelson), B. D. M. Furlong (Hawke’s Bay), A. B. Jordan (Taranaki). J. H. Howell (Hawke’s Bay), B. W. Yuile (Manawatu), and D. Neal (Marlbo rough). U.K. league results—Results of Rugby league matches in Britain were: Bradford Northern 7, Featherstone Rovers 9: Dewsbury 22, Salford 17; Hull Kingston Rovers 12, Huddersfield 10; Huyton 18, Hunslet 10; Swinton 23, Rochdale Hornets 18; Wakefield 89, BaUey 9.
