S.I. campaign “favoured”

(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) SYDNEY, Dec. 1. New Zealand travel industry officials in Sydney were not opposed to a “visit the South Island” campaign in Australia by the South Island Promotion Association, said two members of the association today. Mr A. W. West-Watson, sales manager for Guthreys Tours, and Mr M. A. Lockie, district sales manager, Christchurch, for Air New Zealand, will return to Christchurch tomorrow. They said that New Zealand representatives in Sydney were generally in favour of the idea. Last week, before their visit, some New Zealand travel industry sources described the planned campaign as undermining New Zealand’s national tourist drive in Australia.
