Fire safety review

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. A major revision of the model building by-laws relating to fire risk and building evacuation has been begun by the Standards Association. The work involves a complete re-examination of chapter five of the model building by-laws of the New Zealand standards. It could take up to three years. The revision follows a recommendation of the Hunn report into the 1969 Sprott House fire where seven women died in the blaze at the Karori home for elderly women in Wellington.
