COURTESY LETTER

The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association, burdened with all its problems about holding the Benson and Hedges women’s tournament, received an unexpected courtesy yesterday.

From Mr V. Edwards in Sydney, the coach of the Wimbledon champion, Miss E. Goolagong, who was to have played in the tournament but had to withdraw because of illness, came a doctor’s certificate stating that Miss Goolagong was unfit to play.
