89 THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC COMMISSION TASMANIA DESIGN ENGINEERS . in the TRANSMISSION LINE DIVISION THE WORK of the Transmission Line Division embraces the design and construction of all main transmission lines throughout Tasmania (presently about 1800 circuit miles mainly on lattice steel .towers and energised at voltages ranging up to 220kV) involving all phases from route selection and arrangement of survey through to inspection of completed lines, the present expenditure being approximately SAI million per annum. POSITION A: A Senior Engineer responsible to the Transmission Line Design Engineer for (a) planning, investigations, special studies, estimates and wayleaves relating to HV transmission lines OR (b) for design,, detailing and supervising drawings of HV transmission line structures, foundations and mechanical items. Structure fabrication is undertaken within the Commission. Considerable experience in (a) and/or (b) is necessary and a knowledge of computer applications to transmission line design would assist. Commencing salary within a range up to SAI 1,447 p.a. according to experience. POSITION B: Engineer responsible to the Structural Design Section Engineer for design, detailing and supervising drawings of transmission line structures, foundations and mechanical items.
