Mt Pleasant Trophy yachting to Cliff

B. Cliff, in the Sabre catamaran Sioux 11, won the Mount Pleasant Trophy, one of the Canterbury Yachting Association’s annual competitive events under the jurisdiction of the Mount Pleasant club, on Saturday. The conditions, which changed from a light sou’-westerly to a nor’-eastefly, were ideal for yachting and the first 18 boats completed the course with only five minutes separating the leader from the eighteenth placegetter. The handicapping also contributed to the close finish, with Sioux 11, one of the fastest boats in the fleet of 50, finishing only a minute and a half ahead of C. Christenson’s Frosty, a Frostply which would have been one of the slowest boats. Results of the race and other club events sailed at the weekend were:—
