Boy singer ' s success

(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. A Wellington 14-year-old schoolboy pop singer, David Curtis, won two major prizes at the world popular song festival in Tokyo with his entry “Take Your Leave.” He won the “best composition” and “best performance” awards, giving him a total of $l5OO in prize money.

He will record the song in Japanese next week when he returns to New Zealand. “Take Your Leave,” which David Curtis wrote and sang for the Studio One songwriting contest, won him first place equal in that contest earlier this year.

Mr W. M. Curtis, of Karori, learned of his son’s success by cable today.
