‘FLYER’ MADE READY

HAMILTON, Nov. 26.

Mr Russell Glendinning, has been appointed senior engine driver at Lumsden, in central Southland. His is a position with a difference.

He will drive the Kingston Flyer, the N.Z.R.’s summer “vintage train” which is to steam along the 38-mile Lumsden-Kingston line from December 21. .

Mr Glendinning has been busy preparing Ab77B, the locomotive which will be used alternatively with Ab--795 on the run. The “Flyer,” which is to make two daily return trips in the tourist season, will be the only steam-hauled train on the railways system.
