Glass roads

Crushed glass from nonreturnable beverage bottles is now being used as part of the asphalt-based roadsurface mixture on some busy roads in Nebraska. There is about 20 per cent glass in “glasphalt,” and the surface is said to provide grip and wear-rates as good as more conventional materials.
