Parliament’s diary
The Education Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time. A petition from G. C. Titman and 288 others was received asking Parliament to require the N.Z.B.C. to give a full and complete analysis of events in IndoChina. The petitions committee recommended favourable consideration for two petitions, one asking for amendments to the Nurses and Midwives Act, the other for telephone assistance for pensioners. The report of the Commission on Equal Pay was tabled. The Shipping and Seamen Bill was returned with amendments. Ministers answered 13 questions. Local bills were each advanced a stage, and the House proceeded with legislation.
