Mathematics competition
The finals of the annual sixth form mathematics competition conducted by the Canterbury Mathematical Association will be held at the University of Canterbury on Friday. The competition, which is in its fifth year, attracted more than 550 pupils from 32 secondary schools. The finalists, who were selected last week, will compete for prizes worth more than $3OO. The finalists are:—Khw Slew Bee, G. Levy, A. Miller (Bumside High School), R. Smith (Timaru Boys’ High School), S. Vaughan (Christchurch Boys’ High School), G. Newsam (Christ’s College), B. Harper (Ashburton College), K. Constable (St Thomas’ College), B. Chapman (Cashmere High School), and P. Lafferty (Papanui High School).
