Proctor Street

Sir, —Has the Christchurch City Council’s works department gone into retreat until after the Games. I have rung the engineers department on two occasions regarding the condition of Proctor Street, Papanui. I often use this street and it is in a very bad condition.—Yours, etc., WAIMAIRI. October 4, 1971.

[The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The sealed carriageway of Proctor Street is in good order but there are unsealed shoulders on both sides of the street. The council is undertaking the sealing of street shoulders progressively, but it has not so far been possible to include Proctor Street. Some patching will be undertaken along the shoulders in the near future. The side channels are in poor . order in some places, but the situation also applies to a number of other streets.”]
