Trentham hopes gallop well

"The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. ’ Young Ida and Beau Mleux showed up well for their Trentham engagements In training at Awapuni yesterday morning. They went together over six furlongs and although, they did not make fast time on the course proper. Impressed by their fitness for the first day of the Wellington Racing Club's meeting. The tracks were heavy after torrential rain on Monday. Working 60ft from the rails on the course proper, Young Ida and Beau Mieux completed six furlongs in Imin 25sec. Both horses were galloping well over the final three in 42sec. Young Ida is one of the three fillies engaged in the Wellington Guineas, and although it is hard to see her beating Master John she looks a good place prospect.

Beau Mieux was a most impressive winner at Otaki, and could easily extend his record in the October Hack Handicap. Pakistan Prince was sent alone

over half a mile in 53 3-ssec, coming from the three furlongs in 39 3-ssec.

Filament is holding his form well. He jumped four standard hurdles in good style before galloping easily over half a mile in 57sec, the last three furlongs in 42 2-ssec. On the minimum in the Glen Hurdles at Trentham, he looks well placed to add to his good record. On the inside trial grass, Thun returned good time for his halfmile. He took 51 2-ssec for the distance, the last three furlongs in 38sec. Although he has not raced beyond a mile, he gives every indication of running out the distance of the Heretaunga Handicap.

On their second circuit of the track, Noir Filou and Paratroop speeded up for the last five furlongs in Imin Bsec, Noir Filou doing better than his companion over the final three in 4lsec.

Bagheera gave a good display of jumping six hurdles. He will have a good chance in the Glen Hurdles.
