Bottle drive for appeal
Working on the calculation that one empty beer bottle will buy one wholemilk biscuit, members of the Youth East Pakistan Appeal will make a collection of bottles tomorrow.
About 2006 members will cover at least half of Christchurch.
Mr R. A- Consedine, area organiser for C,0.R.5,0„ who is taking part in foe appeal, said yesterday that beer bottles were worth 20c a dozen and one milk biscuit cost 1.6 c.
He said that persons who were not visited by the bottle drive on Saturday, but who had at least five dozen bottles they wish to give, were asked to telephone 699-733. Mr Consedlne said that the confirmed figure so far collected by the appeal was $10,470; and the bottle drive result would be added to this. The original target had been $10,000” The total amount of aid so far sent through C.0.R.S.Q. to the refugees in East Pakison is $409,765, both fa cash and goods,
