MURRAY MOVING
The Linwood club will be strengthened this year by the addition to its ranks of K. G. Murray, who ended his association with Opawa by winning all three major titles there last summer, Murray has been one of Christchurch’s leading bowlers for a number of years
and he requires only one more centre title to win his gold star medallion. He very nearly got it last season when after going into the final day of the open singles as the last two-lifer he lost both to M. K. Boon, the second being an 18-17 defeat in the final. C. Rowe, another wellknown Opawa bowler and like Murray a Rothmans inter-centre representative, is also moving to a new club, Papanui. Papanui, which this season will be fully operative at its new site in Condell Avenue, has more than 20 new members on its books and among them are two prominent players in W. T. Newburgh (formerly Elmwood) and D. C. Watson (formerly Fendalton), who intend playing together as a pair.
