Charolais heifer crossing Tasman

One member of the crew of the Tasman roU-on vessel Maheno occupies his time looking after Uvestock. This Is his sole duty. Many valuable animals are carried by this vessel, and yesterday, at Lyttelton, one such animal was loaded aboard for Sydney. It is a three-month-old heifer which is going to the property of Mr C.. Young, "Mlttagong,” New South Wales.

The heifer Is the first New Zealand-bred pure Charolals animal and was sired by the French-bred buU Sucre, one of the first Charolals bulls Imported from France to the United Kingdom. The dame is the Charolals cow Falrthwaite Echo, Imported by the breeder and owner of the heifer, Mr A. K. Finlayson, of Mossbum.

For company on the crossing to Sydney the heifer wUI have five Charolals bulls, two Friesian bulls, one Friesian cow and five horses. '
