GO-KART CONTEST
Close finish is expected
The second and final contest between Christchurch, Dunedin, : and Invercargill at the CanterI bury Go-Kart Club’s circuit at : Carr’s Road, Halswell, today Is expected to be very close. In the first meeting in Invercargill, Canterbury finished with 231 points. Dunedin 220, and Invercargill 212 —from nine races. Today’s contest will be over the same number ot races, with six karts in a team and 12 karts in each race—four from each team. Under this system, each driver has to compete in six races. The series is restricted to 100 c.c. karts, and there is a graduated points system for each race, the first being awarded 12 points, and so on down the scale to one for twelfth place. The contest will be a prelude to the Canterbury championships on the same circuit on Sunday. Fifty entries from as far afield as Bluff and Nelson have been received for the four classes of karts. There will be six heats in each class, the worst performance being dropped when points are totalled. An open grand prix will conclude the meeting. Thirty entries : have been received, and there will be three heats with 25 karts ' in each heat, each driver having ; two races. A • modified points , system will be used to avoid , a draw for the title.
