Truck runs over man
A man suffered head and possible internal injuries when the double rear wheels of an empty logging truck went over his body after he had been knocked from his bicycle on the Main NorQi Road yesterday. The accident happened about 3.45 p.m., outside the Phoenix Hotel at Papanui.
The man, Peter Ashcroft, of 11 Lagan Street, Belfast, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition last evening was given as fair. Leonard Potter, of 16 Yarmouth Street, Aranui, was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with head injuries after he fell from his motor-cycle in McGregors Road, Linwood, about 6 p.m. His injuries were described as not serious.
Rosemary Ann Gowan, cf 26 Sabina Street, Shirley, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for minor head injuries and discharged after her car struck a pole and a parked vehicle in Carlton Mill Road about 2.30 p.m. yesterday.
