Woolbuyers have alternative plan
An alternative to the Wool Board’s marketing plan will be proposed by the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association in discussions with interested bodies during the next week.
The association has had discussions With Dr L L. Kinne, of the Batteile Institute, and members of the Wool Board. It has also closely studied the Batteile report, and the board’s marketing plan which is largely based on it The executive manager of the association (Mr W. E. Carter) said in Christchurch yesterday that it had not been able to obtain the recommendation of the Batteile Institute to the board
I —referred to in the report—- , and the association considered that because taxpayers shared equally in the cost of ' the Batteile study, all the ini formation presented by the i institute should be available publicly. "Our approach to the whole subject is constructive, and fully recognises the need for change in the industry, but the board’s plan is not the only scheme that could affect the rationalisation needed in . the industry,” Mr Carter • said. ,
