Miners fall sharply on Australian market
Established miners were cut back severely on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Speculative miners, and oils were lower, and industrial leaders suffered further losses.
C.R.A. fell to a new alltime low of 630 c, and New B.H. dropped the same amount to 910 c. Kathleen Investments was cut back 30c to 310 c, and Queensland Mines followed suit with a 40c fall to 460 c. Con. Gold closed 40c lower at 610 c, and Metals Ex. retreated 20c to 380 c.
Peko dropped 10c to 820 c, and B.H. Sth, Hamersley, Nth B. and W.M.C. also traded lower. Against the trend, Poseidon rose 150 c to 2050 c on the report of new joint venture moves, while Utah firmed 5c to 300 c. Seicast fell 13c to 147 c. Allied Minerals, Mallina, Mareeba, Southland and Spargo’s also eased. Woodside dropped 5c to 105 c, and Mid East closed 4c lower at 72c. Magellan, and A. dropped 5c each, while A.0.D., Ampol Ex., Oil Search, Basin, and Reef were weaker. Santos shed 15c to 350 c, but Timor put on 2c to 30c. B.H.P. fell 15c to 1250 c, and C. dropped the same amount to 470 c. Comalco dropped 4c to a new alltime low of 298 c, and E.Z.I. closed 6c lower at 300 c.
