BEST BETS
Ashburton AWOCATO (Race X). Ch c 3 yrs by Test Case—Vincera, trained by D. J. Thistoil at Riccarton. Good run for second to Lord Nelson in the Flying Handicap on the first day. Should be hard to beat in this small field.
! Hutt Park : BROCKWORTH KING (Race 4). B g, 5 yrs, by Garrison Hanover— Lady Bennett, trained by J. L. Behrns, Chertsey. I Pulled hard on outer and in open for most of the Suburban Handicap on Wednesday evening. Fought on in great style, but just failed to head Dais. This field looks a little stronger, but he will only have to race as generously to win. Wanganui TRIPLE SHOT (Race 4). Ch f J yrs by Comte de Grasse— Befana, trained by G. K. and W. Sanders, Te Awamutu. Ran the Foxton winner Crown Law to a nose on the first day. Good colt with strong form background and should be hard to beat. Avondale FAIRECE (Race 4). Ch ( 2 yrs by Fair’s Fair—Cantrece, trained by R. Wallace, Takanini. Looks a ready-made two-year-old and if her sprint at Takanini on Thursday morning was any indication she will be too quick for her rivals. Her trainer. R. Wallace, has often shown himself a good hand with early two-year-olds. Poverty Bay ODDFELLOW (Race 5L Ch g 6 yrs . . by Della Porta—Tranquil Gold trained by G. K. and W. Sanders, Te Awamutu. Has been running good races at recent starts and should be hard to beat in this field with only a pound above the minimum
