NOTICE TO IMPORTERS AND EXPORTERS WITH further reference to our announcement of August 28, member Lines of the New Zealand Eastern Shipping Committee have now given further consideration to the current uncertain monetary situation and have adopted the foUowlngs steps as temporary measures:— 1- To maintain the present conversion rates of 8U51.12 to BNZI, and other exchange rates ruling on August 18, 1971. 2- (a) To watch closely further developments in the monetary situation until such time as member Lines are reasonably certain about fair values of the New Zealand dollar and other currencies in relation to the United States dollar, which are fair having regard to the changes in the relative values of these currencies and then to introduce an appropriate revaluation surcharge with Immediate effect (b) Concurrent with the introduction of a surcharge mentioned In (a) above to alter the rate of conversion of freight from U.S. dollars to New Zealand dollars, or other currencies to the highest T.T. selling rate of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, or appropriate Banks In other areas ruling on the day before a vessel’s arrival at the port of loading concerned whether freight is prepaid or paid at destination.
