Life-saving awards in Canterbury rise

, A decline in the number of awards issued by the Canterbury branch of the Royal Lafe Saving Society (New Zealand) had been arrested and an increase of 258 awards to 5948 compared with the previous year was noted in the sixty-first report to be presented at the annual meeting on September 23.

Record numbers of elementary certificates, intermediate stars and junior instructor’s certificates were awarded

during the year, the report said.
