MONEY FOR CHARITIES
Social Credit gifts
Cheques of $lOO each will be presented to the social committee of the Christchurch Aged People’s Welfare Council and the Rangiora Catholic Community Centre by the leader of the Social Credit League (Mr J. B. O’Brien) when he visits Christchurch next week.
The combined Social Credit social clubs would allocate another $lOOO to other welfare and charitable organisations next month, said the deputy-chairman of the Social Credit board of trustees for the Christchurch and Canterbury regional council areas (Mr R. P. Jones) yesterday.
“The board of trustees has been administering the affairs of the Social Credit League since April. In the first five, months of trusteeship more than $2OOO has been accummulated for distribution to organisations which find difficulty in raising necessary finance for their worth-: while aims and objects with-! in the community.” he said.! “These funds have been raised through the diligence and dedication of a small group of electoral branch members in the Christchurch regional council area,” said Mr Jones.
