Policeman retires

(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, September 5. Senior-Sergeant E. H. Clark the senior-sergeant in charge of the Nelson police district, has retired after 35 years in the police force. He joined as a cadet >n Wellington in 1936, and was posted to Dunedin as a constable that year. He was promoted to sergeant in 1946, and transferred to Invercargill in 1952. Two years later he became a senior-sergeant, and, in 1957, he was transferred to Christchurch. After seven years in Christchurch he moved to Nelson.

During his service, SeniorSergeant Clark has been active in police search and rescue, having been officer in charge of operations in Dunedin, Invercargill, and Christchurch.
