Changes on cricket body
At least two sitting members of the New Zealand Cricket Council’s- board of control will not be seeking re-election at the annual meeting of the council next month.
Mr A. G. Williams, who came on to the board in 1969 as Canterbury’s representative, and Mr K. L. Sandford, who has been the spokesman for the 16 North Island minor associations since 1956, have both intimated that they will not be standing again. Mr Sandford,. a Hamilton lawyer, is well known for the private overseas cricket tours he has organised for New Zealand teams. In 1964 he took away a team Called the Kjwis, and last year the Ambassadors undertook an extensive world tour.
Mr B. A. Hosking, a Karaka farmer, who is the president of the Franklin Cricket Association, is a likely successor to* Mr Sandford. He has been nominated by Franklin, and can expect strong support from the seven member associations which make up the Northern Districts Cricket Association. Mr Williams filled a gap left on the board by Canterrepresentative, Mr J. C. Saunders, being appointed treasurer in place of Mt .J. L. Kerr, who moved up >to the presidency. , ‘ ‘ < His replacement is almost certain to be Mr. I. P. Anderson, who is the present chairman of the Canterbury Cricket Association’s management commtitee.
