N. King profit edges up

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. The net profit of Newton King, Ltd, increased $4391 to $266,351 in the year to June 30, the directors have announced. A final ordinary dividend of 4 per cent will be paid on November 3, .making a steady 8 per cent for the year. The shares will be quoted ex dividend on October 10. The profit was struck after providing $14,500 more for tax at $264,500 and $12,446 more for depreciation at $195,298. The payroll tax was $30,573. After the payment of $178,296 in dividends the retained profits of $89,025 will increase reserves to $2,421,875. The earning rate on ordinary paid-up capital of $1,966,948 was 12.5 per cent. The ordinary dividend was covered 1.6 times by the net profit.
