HERCULES LEAVE

Return to Honolulu Their mission to the Antarctic over, three United States Navy ski-equipped Hercules left Christchurch early yesterday afternoon for the United States. The first, carrying the Navy Antarctic support force commander (Rear-Admiral L. B. McCuddin) and his deputy (Captain H. Swinburne) left at 1.10 p.m. The second Hercules left at 1.40 p.m., and the third at 2.45 p.m. They were bound for Honolulu by way of Pago Pago. The three Hercules will return to Christchurch on September 24, when the summer support season begins. Admiral McCuddin said he had been very impressed with what he had seen both of his command in the Antarctic and of the hospitality in Christchurch. His family was looking forward to living in Christchurch during the summer.
