Petition on flooding

A petition has been signed by 20 or more residents of Brighton Terrace and Evans Avenue, New Brighton, asking the City Council to stop the flooding outside their-properties that has occurred since the council did road work. A resident told “The Press” that even a light rainfall caused flooding. The council, he said, had built up Brighton Terrace at its junction with Oram Avenue, causing water to pond. People were unable to leave their homes on foot. He said that showers bn Tuesday night' produced up to 2ft of water at the lowest point in Brighton Terrace, badly affecting 10 properties. Others were affected to a lesser extent in Evans Avenue.
