Admission may rise

(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU. The possibility of increasing the admission fee for meetings at Washdyke Raceway would be Investigated, the annual meeting of the Timaru Trotting Club decided on Monday evening.

Previously, the meeting adopted a resolution that the annual subscription of members be increased from *3 to *5 from August 1, 1972. The treasurer (Mr T. T. Ritchie) said that the present subscription was fixed in 1951, when the club was granted an extra totallaator permit. Since then, It bad been granted an additional permit. An increase In stakes of *lOO a race would mean a further *36oo—more than half as much again as the club’s profit for the year, the best since 1958. “Increases in stakes are inevitable, and are fully justified,” said Mr Ritchie.
